A Night of Exquisite Tastes set for Sept. 14

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York will hold its 6th Annual A Night of Exquisite Tastes fundraiser on Friday, September 14. The event will be held beginning at 6 pm at the Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady, in partnership with Park-Lane Tobacconist of Clifton Park and Edleez Tobacco of Albany.

This fundraiser has it all! Fine wine, gourmet foods and an outstanding selection of premium cigars make this an evening not to be missed. In addition, there is also a silent auction with a wide range of  items donated by event sponsors and local businesses. This event is a perfect networking opportunity, or simply enjoy a relaxing evening out with family and friends.

Proceeds from the event benefit the chapter’s wish granting program. Since its inception, A Night of Exquisite Tastes has raised well over $100,000 to grant wishes to local children. Make-A-Wish^® Northeast New York marks 25th year with fireworks, fun, and lots of sparkle at March 31 Gala

Make-A-Wish® Northeast New York held its Silver Anniversary A Wishful Evening Gala

on March 31 at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs.

The Gala is a celebration of 25 years of serving the region by granting the wishes of more than1,200 children with life-threatening medical conditions. Proceeds from the event will help fund the 100 wishes to be granted this coming year.

This year’s Silver Anniversary theme was highlighted in the decor and events, and the Hall of Springs was a spectacular setting to enjoy cocktails, dinner, and live entertainment with “The Accents” band.

According to company president and owner John Cole, this $10,000+ sponsorship was a great way to give back to the community while celebrating the success of his company. “We’re thrilled to be able to grant a child’s wish to go to Disney World,” Cole said. “For myself, my family, and my team, it’s a great opportunity.”

The donation was marked with a ceremony at the Cole’s Collision facility at 1904 Central Avenue, Albany. Among those attending was Kaleb, a Wish Child from Watervliet, who was sponsored by Cole’s for his wish.

Cole’s Collision Centers operates three full-service facilities, in Colonie, Ballston Spa, and Wilton, with 50 employees and state-of-the art equipment.

Through Sunday, Sunday, January 15, 2012, the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Johnstown will be auctioning off decorative and collectible items that had been displayed on their walls. All proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Northeast New York.

Lots of unique items are available, including celebrity photos, sport items and local memorabilia. All bids must be made with the restaurant manager by 5 pm on Sunday, Jan. 15.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation^® of Northeast New York launched its 19^th Annual Adopt An Angel^® campaign for wishes on Thursday, Nov. 17. The campaign is continuing, with all proceeds to benefit the chapter’s wish-granting program.

The Foundation’s goal is to raise $1,000,000 this year to grant about 100 wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.  The Adopt An Angel campaign is the largest fundraiser for the Foundation, and 100 percent of the funds are used to grant the heartfelt wishes of local children.

Adopt An Angel features six children and teens who have had, or will have, their wish granted by Make-A-Wish.  Each child ambassador’s story is told on a paper angel “ornament” available for a $3 donation. Angels can also be ordered, or donations made, HERE.

Cohoes, NY (Oct. 31, 2011) –

Julia is one of nearly 100 children and teens each year who are granted wishes by the Make-A-Wish Foundation^® of Northeast New York. The Foundation serves children in the 518 area code who have life-threatening medical conditions. A network of local volunteers, supporters, professionals, trustees, and donors work together to determine a qualified child’s true wish, and then make that wish come true.

With her family and best friend Elizabeth, Julia spent a week at a Seapointe Village beach house on the Jersey shore. Beach chairs and umbrellas on the sand allowed for hours in the sun and surf, along with water activities like parasailing.

Julia also loved going out to dinner to different restaurants throughout the week and enjoyed the games and other entertainment at Wildwood’s famous boardwalk. Among the host of amusement rides, her favorite was the “Slingshot”, which shot two people at a time straight up into the sky and then bungeed them back and forth. The group also took a carriage ride, for a relaxing close-up look at the historic waterfront town.

Another experience was her personal spa massage. While much of the trip involved family and friends, this was truly all about Julia. She said that it was a highlight of the trip, adding, “Every little girl’s dream is to be pampered and be made to feel special, and this was a special day in a great week.”

According to local Make-A-Wish CEO William C. Trigg III, granting the 1,200th wish is a major milestone, as the chapter approaches its 25^th anniversary. “We’re committed to meeting the growing needs of our local region, and helping these children by granting their heartfelt wishes,” he said. “We know from our experience that a wish can help sustain a family, give a child something to look forward to, and provide lasting joyful memories.”
