“I Wish To Have a Bicycle”

Kaitlin’s wish was another wonderful milestone the Make-A-Wish  Foundation of Northeast New York has reached – granting its 1,100th wish!

Kaitlin, age 5, from Corinth really enjoys being outdoors.  Two of her favorite things are riding a bicycle and swinging on a swing.  She was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, Batten disease just before her third birthday.  Friends of her family suggested Kaitlin’s mom, Rebecca, get in touch with the Foundation. After some  discussion, Kaitlin decided on her wish, a new bicycle and swing. The bike was customized for Kaitlin to accommodate her physical needs.  Rebecca, Kaitlin’s mom said, “Every child should be able to ride a bike and swing on a swing. Kaitlin can enjoy her bike and swing, not just now but into the future. She absolutely loves her bike!  She doesn’t want to get off of it.  She even watches TV on it.”

As part of her wish experience, Kaitlin also received passes to Magic Forest, a small amusement park in Lake George. Kaitlin’s mom said, “It is a perfect amusement park for her. It is small, so it is easy to get around and she is able to go on all of the rides.”

Kaitlin’s wish was just perfect to celebrate the 1,100th granted by the chapter. Kaitlin’s mom said, “The Foundation has helped our family  help her. We can’t express our gratitude enough.”
