Make-A-Wish Northeast New York is now participating in the national campaign, Wheels for Wishes. The program gives people the opportunity to donate old, unwanted vehicles to the wish-granting fund to support local children and teens who suffer from life-threatening medical conditions.
The process of donating an old vehicle through the Wheels for Wishes program is easy: the donator schedules a date for pickup, Wheels for Wishes comes and tows the vehicle away for free and the vehicle is turned around and sold for its maximum value. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale go directly toward Make-A-Wish Northeast New York’s wish-granting fund for local children.
“Wheels for Wishes is new to our chapter, and we are excited to be a part of it this year,” says Bill Trigg III, CEO of Make-A-Wish Northeast New York. “It’s a great way for members of the local community to get rid of their old vehicles and help children in the 518 area code at the same time.”
The Wheels for Wishes program not only gives people an alternative way to donate, but it also is good for the environment. It offers the chance for people to recycle their unwanted vehicles free of cost and effort. Qualifying vehicles include: cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs, boats and motorcycles. And an added bonus: all donations are tax-deductible.
“People often donate their ‘end-of-life’ cars,” says Jean Montgomery, Operations Manager at Wheels for Wishes. “We take a car regardless of its condition, and we will get the money for it.” Whether it’s a blown gasket or an old transmission, Wheels for Wishes can turn the old vehicle into a donation.”
