An 11-year old boy from Whitehall, New York, got a very special wish granted last week when he got to meet New England Patriots legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski.
John’s dream came true thanks to Make-A-Wish Northeast New York with assistance from Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
John has a brain tumor and was at Albany Medical Center. He is a huge New England Patriots fan and especially loves "Gronk." Given the urgency of John’s condition, the two Make-A-Wish chapters worked together in partnership with the New England Patriots. They were able to coordinate a special visit as Gronkowski was traveling back to Boston from Buffalo.
John was beyond excited and overwhelmed to meet his real-life hero. His family was deeply grateful that his special dream could come true on such short notice.
“There are not enough thank yous in the world I can give for seeing John smile today,” said Carrie Rivette, John’s mother.
In April, Gronkowski received the 2019 Wish Hero Award from Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island for his heroic efforts in transforming the lives of wish children, granting 14 wishes for deserving kids across the country.
